Equitable Stroke Control
We want to limit the number of stokes over par to 2 on any hole for Handicap purposes. I see the Equitable Stroke Control allows us to do that but then it still uses actual score when calculating handicap. Is there a way to use the score determined by Equitable Stroke Control as the score used to calculate handicap?Author: Mark Skrocki

Highly unlikely you will receive any response from either of them - they have been AWOL for better part of 4 years.

Background: Equitable Stroke Control (ESC) is part of the pre-2020 USGA Handicap Calculation process. It defines the maximum number that a player can post on any hole depending on the player's Course Handicap. ESC is used only when a player’s actual or most likely score exceeds his maximum number based on the table below.

The Player's ESC adjusted score is used to calculate the Player's Handicap Differential and subsequently their Handicap Index.

Adjustments to the ESC parameters will only impact Player Handicaps, and is not used for player competition; aka points, holes won/lost, etc.

Depending on how your league is set up - "Team Match Play Rules/Limit Handicap Strokes in a Match" may be an option for you. You can set "Max Handicap Difference per Hole"

Other than that, I don't know of any other way to limit the number of handicap strokes applied to a hole.

Keep in mind limiting the number of handicap strokes places a significant disadvantage on higher handicap players. But I understand where you are coming from - having the same discussion on my league.
